What personal data this site collects, why, and what you can ask me to do with it.

Who I am

This site is run by DE WINTER + CARTNER LTD (trading as de Winter + Cartner), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16501650. Registered office: 40 Ladywell Way, Ponteland, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE20 9TE.

I’m Courtney de Winter, and I’m responsible for any personal data you share through this site. If you have a question about your data, email hello@dewintercartner.com.

What I collect and why

If you send a message through the form. I collect your name, work email, company (if you add it) and your message. I use these to reply to you and, if we work together, to get started. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in replying to people who contact me, or taking steps you’ve asked for before a contract.

If you book an intro call. Booking runs through Google Calendar. I receive your name, email and anything you add to the booking, and use them to hold the call. Same legal basis as above.

If you email me. I keep the email and your contact details so I can reply and keep a record of our conversation.

If you accept analytics cookies. I use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit, how they found the site and roughly where they are (country or city level). I don’t use it to identify you. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

If we work together. I keep contracts, invoices and project records to deliver the work and meet my legal and tax obligations.

I don’t sell your data, and I won’t add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one.

Who else handles your data

I use a small number of services to run this site and my business. They process data on my behalf, under contracts that require them to keep it secure:

  • Framer hosts this website and delivers form messages to me.
  • Google provides my email, calendar booking and analytics (Google Workspace and Google Analytics).
  • Monzo handles invoicing and payments if we work together.

Some of these providers store data outside the UK, including in the EU and the US. Where they do, transfers are covered by UK adequacy regulations or the UK’s approved data transfer agreements.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don’t lead to work: up to 2 years, then deleted.
  • Client records (contracts, invoices): 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as required by HMRC.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months in Google Analytics.

Cookies

This site only sets analytics cookies if you click Accept on the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or ignore the banner, no analytics cookies are set.

Your rights

You can ask me to:

  • give you a copy of the data I hold about you
  • correct anything that’s wrong
  • delete your data
  • stop or limit how I use it
  • send it to you or someone else in a usable format

If you gave consent (for analytics), you can withdraw it at any time. Email hello@dewintercartner.com and I’ll respond within one month.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I’d appreciate the chance to put it right first.

Changes

If I change how I use personal data, I’ll update this page and the date below.
